Portraits are coming! Portraits are coming!
This year I am planning to add portraits to my mix of offerings. I don’t have a timeline for this yet, as I need to build up a good portfolio. I will be the first to admit I haven’t done portrait work since my photography classes in high school and college (and that was a while ago).
The gallery below is to give an idea of the style I am going for. These were not from a portrait session but rather a vow renewal ceremony for my brother and sister-in-law. They wanted to have me do photos but had to use the resort photographer. I took these for them, from my seat. I would never get in the way of a fellow photographer. Please note I am not offering weddings or events, just portraits.
Besides building my portfolio with beautiful images,
I need to determine other aspects like where will I do portraits? I can set up a mini studio in my garage, travel to people’s houses, and find outdoor areas. I may end up doing a combination of the three because each offers different pros and cons. Plus, options are always a good thing to have!
Behind the scenes, I am working on a timeline to get Portrait by JVP up and running. Aside from practice and looking for places to shoot, I have a lot of other little things that need to get done. The main one is updating my website to include Portrait by JVP. I am also working on PDF guides to send out. I want my customers to know what a session includes!
Keep your eye out because in the next few months I will be offering a portfolio building special! The portfolio building sessions will be slightly different than what a usual session will include but will give a peek into what I will offer. I am also planning a blog post about what type of portraits I want to do and why. The reasoning behind my decision is very important to me.
If you want to stay up to date with Portrait by JVP, you can like the Facebook page, follow on Instagram and Twitter, and sign up for the future newsletter! There isn’t much up yet but I am working towards making these the places to be!
I look forward to working with new customers. I am excited to branch out into a different genre of photography. Landscapes and nature photos will always be my first love but I can’t wait to test my creativity and eye with portraits!
