Summer’s here, and with summer comes heat. Lots and lots of heat. The days are long and hot, but that doesn’t mean you have to waste the day, month, season. There are tons of things you can do to beat the heat and enjoy your summer!
Too hot to venture outside? Now is the perfect time to tackle those home projects you keep putting off. When was the last time you cleaned out your closet? Set aside a few hours, pull all your clothes out, and start trying on and sorting through them. If something doesn’t fit? Donate it. You haven’t worn that shirt in three years? Donate.
Maybe you’ve been putting off fixing the grout or patching those nail holes. Make a list of all those little projects and start knocking them out. Plan for one project per week or month. Now is also an excellent time to start deep cleaning. You can tackle a different room or area each day or week.
Can’t get outside for a run or the gym is closed? Why not start working out at home? With little to no equipment, you can still get a good workout in. There are so many videos and social media accounts posting different videos. You could do something different each day and not get bored or repeat a workout!
Not feeling the home projects or exercises?
Why not supercharge your creativity! Maybe you used to craft or paint and slowly let it drop off your radar. Or perhaps you want to try something new. Summer is a great time to get crafty because you can do most crafts and arts inside in the air conditioning.
You could learn something new. Pick up cross-stitch or watercolor. Not feeling artistic or crafty? Expand your language skills and learn a new language with an app like Duolingo. If languages aren’t your thing, maybe there’s another skill or subject that interests you. Go on, get your learn on!

(I would maybe stay away from baking because the oven will heat your house and defeat the purpose of beating the heat.)
Finally, if you want to get outside, at least be sure to take precautions. Go out early (or late), wear sunscreen, and be sure to hydrate!
Summer doesn’t mean being stuck inside on the couch watching reruns on TV. You can learn a new skill and catch up on all those not fun tasks you keep putting off. Imagine how relieved and relaxed you’ll feel when you can cross those off your to-do list!
