Summer can be a scorcher. The heat can make it hard to want to head outdoors for fun in the sun. But don’t think that being stuck inside means all you can do is watch TV and play video games. There are so many ways to work on your creativity inside!
Challenge yourself (or your kids) to an A-Z photo project. All that you need is a camera for everyone to use, cell phones will work great. The goal is to photography something in the house for every letter of the alphabet. You could make 26 individual images or gather a few items together. Once you have your A-Z photos, show them to your other family members to see what else they came up with. Live alone? No problem, get a friend to do it too and compare through a Zoom call.
You could even make albums on Facebook or post to Instagram to showoff you (and your family’s) images!
You can recreate your favorite book covers with items you have around the house. This could be an individual or family affair. If you have kids, let them pick the book and find the pieces to recreate it. Once finished, snap a few photos and post them to social media! What other items could you recreate? Movie posters, album covers… there’s probably a ton of other things you can come up with!
Another idea is to pick a shape or color and have family members find and take photos of the shape or color only. For example, let’s say you choose a circle. Set a time limit and let everyone run around the house, coming up with photos of circles. They could do something simple, like a cabinet knob or get more creative and make a circle of their favorite things. If you pick a color, how many shades of that color can you find and include? When the time is up, everyone gets to share their images.
