Thanksgiving is here and I wanted to take the time to share what I am thankful for this year. We sometimes forget about Thanksgiving, getting wrapped up in Black Friday and Christmas, and I wanted to make sure we recognize today. I know I am often guilty of showing appreciation or thanks because I get too wrapped up in life. Thanksgiving is a great time to show what you’re thankful for and to remember to be more cognizant going forward.
It’s also a great time to eat a lot of good food! (I can’t be all serious all the time.)
I am thankful for my supportive friends and family. I have read many Facebook posts from others whom significant others or family put down their work or their business. No one in my life tells me I can’t do this, except myself. And when I get down on myself they don’t allow me to wallow in self-pity. Self-pity doesn’t lead to improvement or action.
I am grateful to have gone to school for business management. I have good business sense, know about running a business and the ability to find/learn what I don’t know. My education and eagerness to learn have helped me develop a business model and pursue my dream.
I also am grateful to have a full-time job to help save money to pursue my dream. My current job may not be amazing and what I really want to do, but it does give me a steady paycheck to pay bills and save or invest in my true love.
I am especially thankful for the ladies in my favorite Facebook group. They are all entrepreneurs and extremely supportive. We help each other with our businesses and are never rude or condescending. I wish more women could treat each others as these ladies do. We respect each other, even when opinions differ. It is important to build each other up rather than tear each other down.
Lastly, I am grateful for the chance to attend photography seminars taught by photographers I respect. I have learned a ton at each of these seminars and have been able to apply in my own photography. I am also thankful for online resources and videos that allow me to learn something new, like off camera flash, or build on areas I already know a little about, such as marketing.
Tell me, what are you thankful for this holiday season?
